Morgan Yasbincek (1964 - )

Morgan Yasbincek is a Western Australian writer. Her first collection of poetry, Night Reversing, won the 1997 Anne Elder Poetry Award and the 1997 Mary Gilmore Poetry Award. In 1998 she travelled to the United Kingdom where she completed a residency at the University of East Anglia as part of the Creative Connections project, organised and sponsored jointly by the State Literature Officer of Western Australia, ArtsWA, the British Council and British Airways. She teaches creative writing at Murdoch University, and has run workshops both within Australia and in the United Kingdom. She is developing her second collection of poetry and is researching her PhD at Murdoch University.

Gloria B. Yates (1932 - )

Gloria B. Yates, poet, performance poet, writer & editor of MICROPRESS OZ, a mini-mag for new and re-cycled poems/poets. Associate Editors are Rob Riel and Judy Johnson. Micropress, now in its ninth year, is posted out ten times per year all over Oz and to many other countries. Micropress has cloned itself several times so it now works in association with Valley Micropress in New Zealand. Subscriptions to Gloria B Yates at the above address. Author of A Daughter of Leeds published in the UK, her childhood has become part of the social history of Yorkshire and won her a Readers' Award for Woman of Achievement in her native city. She published and edited The Best of Micropress, an anthology of forty poets from Micropress with a foreword by Bruce Dawe. Her book of poems Getting There with each poem illustrated by a hilarious design from Kate O'Neil is obtainable from the writer for ten dollars including postage -money back guaranteed if you don't laugh. As a performance poet and story-teller Gloria has had numerous engagements including appearances at the Montsalvat National Poetry Festival, the Melbourne Poetry Festival and Brisbane's Poetry Festival. Gloria was once described as 'the aged enfant terrible" of Brisbane's poetry world. That's about right. She is dirt poor.

Deborah Young (D.O.B. - )

After studying at the Sydney College of the Arts, Deborah Young graduated from National Art School in 1989. She has also studied Old Master's techniques at the Charlie Sheard Studio School. Deborah's works have been purchased by Art Bank, the Commonwealth Government, and a growing number of private collectors. Deborah was commissioned by the architects Indyk and Associates to create a four panel 8.8m x 1.04m oil on linen painting as part of the refurbishment of the Sackville Hotel in Rozelle, Sydney. Her triptych Ley Lines is a feature of Moog Hotel, Darlinghurst. She is currently working on a series of paintings for inclusion in Weapons of Mass Sedition, a cross-arts performance by Sydney spoken word electronica duo, The Cube.
