Phil Ilton (D.O.B. - )

Whilst he was frolicking with cephalopods in Bass Strait, Phil's poetry was published in many Australian anthologies and journals including Best Australian Poems 2005, Overland, Island, Quadrant and overseas in Envoi (UK) and the Chung Wai Literary Monthly in which his poetry was translated into Chinese (Taiwan). Four collections of Phil's poetry and stories have been published including Capsules (Medal Poets Series), More than Words (Domain Press) and Not Just On the Road (Woorilla Books) which is based on incidents from his solo bicycle ride around Australia. Recognition of Phil's work has also come with his achievement of over 100 awards, including 21 First Prizes and many Second and Third Prizes. Wins include the Woorilla, Centoria and Fellowship of Australian Writers' (FAW) Macarthur poetry competitions and he's been Highly Commended in the Henry Lawson Society Award. Phil has judged several awards including the Society of Women Writers (Vic) Poetry Prize and the National FAW Jim Hamilton Award (for an unpublished novel or short story collection) and the John Shaw Neilson and Christopher Brennan Poetry Awards.

Performance is also in Phil's repertoire, having been a key reader at the Australian Poetry Festival (Sydney), the Overload Poetry Festival (Melbourne), City of Boroondara (Vic) Soiree and in an Optus TV documentary focussed on his poetry. He's read his work on ABC 774 and conducted short courses, readings & workshops for a number of tertiary institutions & schools. Phil's poetry has been performed on ABC Radio National's Poetica on three occasions and his 'Express thoughts from Parliament' is displayed on Melbourne trains in the Connex Moving Galleries Project 2006-07. Convenor of the FAW's Readings at The Water Rat Hotel in South Melbourne 2001-2002, Phil co-edited with Jennifer Harrison the anthology from those events Said The Rat! (Black Pepper Press). He was on the FAW (Vic) Executive 1993-2003 and Co-Vice-President for three years. In 2004 Phil resigned from his job embarking on a full-time freelance career writing/publishing and associated activities including facilitation of poetry workshops, assessing/editing manuscripts, providing a mentor service to poets, judging literary awards and radio/public-readings of his work.

Lachlan Irvine (D.O.B. - )

Lachlan Irvine is an Australian poet who writes poetry on the vietnam war, history, fiction. He was an Australian Vietnam veteran and has created a comprehensive we website covering the topic of war and poetry. It includes veterans' Issues, guitar tabs and a webring. Lachlan says that music has always been an important part of his life, from the beginning of Rock 'n' Roll in the Fifties, through the musical excitement of the Sixties, and all subsequent decades. He hopes to expand on his musical interests online when he has time. Lachlan also has a songbook, currently containing lyrics and guitar chords for about 600 songs that he will also add to his website as time permits.
