Stephen Edgar (1951 - ) Stephen Edgar was born in Sydney and lives in Hobart. He studied English and Classics at the University of Tasmania. Rebecca Edwards (1969 - ) Rebecca Edwards is a graduate of the University of Queensland where she majored in Japanese. A poet and visual artist living in Townsville, she has been a guest of major poetry festivals throughout Australia. Her unpublished long poem "Night Is The Smell of Burning" won the inaugural Arts Queensland Poetry Award vin 1999. Her first solo art exhibition Little Dangers was held at Flinders Gallery in 1999; a second exhibition will be held at the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, both in Townsville. Anne Elder (1918 - 1976) Anne Elder was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and came to Australia at the age of three. Under her maiden name Anne MacKintosh, she was a well known ballerina with the Borovansky Ballet. She published her first book of poetry in 1972. FAW Victoria administers the Anne Elder Trust Fund for Poetry and is an annual award presented for the best first book of published poetry.    Photo of poet by photographer, year. Peter Elliot (D.O.B. - ) Melbourne poet Peter Elliott works as a computer programmer in the public service of Victoria, Australia. He hosts the regular Friday evening round-table readings at Corey's Cafe, and publishes Salvaged From Coreys, a small magazine of poems from Corey's Cafe. Brook Emery (D.O.B. - ) Brook Emery's first book of poetry, And I Dug My Fingers In The Sand, was published at age 50. The former high school teacher, beach inspector and removalist had always been involved in writing, and has concentrated on poetry only in the last few years. His first book won the $15,000 Queensland Government's Judith Wright Calanthe Award for Poetry, took second prize in the national Anne Elder Award for a first book of verse and was short-listed for the prestigious Kenneth Slessor NSW Premier's prize for Poetry. Individual poems have been awarded first place in the 1999 Newcastle Poetry Prize, the 1999 Sports Poetry Award and the Dennis Butler Memorial Award.    Photo of poet by photographer, year.
