Craig Powell was born in Wollongong NSW. He graduated in medicine from Sydney University and later specialised in Psychiatry. 1972-82 he lived in Canada where he trained with the Toronto Institute of Psychoanalysis. He now lives in Sydney where he is a psychoanalyst in private practice and a Visiting Medical Officer, Mental Health, at the Prince of Wales Hospital. He won the 1983 Mattara (Newcastle) Poetry Prize and was a co-winner of the 45th International Poetry Competition (1989), Quarterly Review of Literature, Princeton New Jersey. Hazel Smith

Hazel Smith works in the areas of poetry, experimental writing, performance, multi-media work and hypertext. She has published in numerous international poetry magazines and anthologies. In Australia she has featured several times on the ABC program Poetica. In 2002 she appeared at the Autumn Writers Festival Sydney, the Brett Whitely Gallery Sydney, the Australian Poetry Festival Sydney, the Tasmanian Poetry Festival, the ACT Spring Poetry Festival and the Brisbane Powerhouse. Stephen Oliver

Stephen Oliver was born in Wellington, New Zealand. He completed a one year diploma course in Magazine Journalism, Wellington Polytechnic. Radio NZ Broadcasting School. Casual Radio Actor. He has lived in Paris, Vienna, London, San Francisco, Greece and Israel. Signed on with the radio ship, The Voice of Peace broadcasting in the Mediterranean out of Jaffa. Stephen free lanced as production voice, newsreader, announcer, journalist, copy and features writer. Poems widely represented in New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, USA, UK, South Africa, Canada, etc. His published titles include ten books of poetry. Martin Langford

In 1996 Martin Langford edited Midday Horizon, the second of the Round Table "poet's choice" anthologies with Margaret Bradstock and Peter Boyle. In 2000, he published Be Straight With Me (Island), a book of poems about the lives of teenagers. He has been editor or joint editor of several collections of conference papers, including those for Rewording 87, Rewording 89 (in Poetry Australia) and The Whole Voice (1995; in Southerly). He has been variously involved with the Poets Union, being National Secretary in 1985-6, and President in 1991-2 and 1992-3. Martha Richardson

Martha Richardson was born Los Angeles, California in the USA on 1st April, 1943. She was subsequently educated at California State University at Los Angeles where she graduated 1965. Martha taught Elementary school in California and Utah. She married Edward Richardson in St. George, Utah 28th June 1985 and emigrated to Australia August 1990. Martha recommenced writing 1994 and was published in several journals. She won an ABC prize for poetry in 1995 and was awarded a "Commendation" in the Ann Elder Poetry awards in Melbourne 2000. Myron Lysenko

Myron Lysenko became a professional poet in 1989. Co-founded & co-edited (with Kevin Brophy) independent literary journal Going Down Swinging from 1980-94. He has had over 222 poems published in anthologies, litmags & other journals. His poetry has been featured on television & radio. Has read his poetry in public over 2000 times over the last 21 years & has conducted over 3000 poetry workshops on the east coast of Australia. His poetry has been described as wry, amusing, sad, surprising, innovative & cheekily irreverent. He is known in some circles as Melbourne’s happy pessimist. Meg Mooney

Meg Mooney has been living in central Australia for 15 years, four of them on remote Aboriginal communities, and her work generally focuses on places and communities there. Meg first got to love the Australian deserts working as a geologist. After a spell as a Literature Production Supervisor at Papunya School and having a son, she has edged her way back towards the natural sciences. For a few years she has been working on landcare with remote Aboriginal communities. Nicolette Stasko

Nicolette Stasko has appeared at numerous poetry venues in Australia, the USA, China and London. She was the Associate/Fiction Editor of and reviewer for a literary journal, The Phoenix Review from 1986 to 1992. In 1993 she was interviewed about her work as a poet for a feature on SBS television's 'Vox Populi'. Nicolette Stasko has run writing workshops for the NSW Poets' Union (1994) and schools, as well as given many readings not listed above. Richard James Allen has combined a unique international career as a poet, performer, choreographer and filmmaker. His poetry, performance texts, and cross media works have been published, broadcast, performed and screened widely on three continents over the last twenty years.
