About the Photographer Inez Hull
|
Inez Hull was born in Orange, New South Wales, Australia in 1943. She moved to Sydney at 12 years of age where she attended Maroubra Junction Home Science School. She has worked as a process worker in a plastics factory for ten years and as a youth worker for the Department of Community Services for seven years. Her last employment was with Centacare working with elderly people in their own homes. Inez first became interested in family, social and portrait photography over thirty five years ago. Ever since that time she has been involved in a form of consistent photographic documentation of the people around her such as birthdays, holidays, outings and special occasion gatherings. Inez is known to attend social events with a camera hidden in her handbag. She says, 'the family have called me "clicky-clack" from time to time saying "not again" as they run to hide. They give in after a while as I don't give up until I get the photo I want. I believe that people like to look their best, so a lot of my photos are set-up'. This collection of photos is vibrant, celebratory and uplifting. The photos represented are an intimate expose of life in Sydney's working-class western suburbs. |
